We finally finished the website works for Filmacass‘ feature movie Kabadayi. I tried not to override the design used in the movie’s official poster by Emrah Yücel in the design process of the website. With my collague Tutku Tetik, who has done the flash programming and application part along with the 3D renders of the transitions, we took the inspiration of the “cracking wall style” logotype used in the movie itself.

Finally I went on a vacation and took some pictures after a long while.
I took most of these pictures in Bozcaada, a small island at the coast of Canakkale, Turkey. I used Ilford 400/C41 black and white film on an 90’s Minolta analogue SLR camera that I quite like taking photos with.

I started to work in Filma-Cass Film Production as a member of post production and desktop ad films team. The firm and environment is quite well and funny, also I am doing something apart from web design here and that makes me very happy. I will try to develop some After Effects and other post production software systems.

Finally the site is online. Design by me, flash implementation and coding by my collague Kagan Cam, also thanks to Eren Dursun for some server side help.
Bocek Yapim is one of the leading film producer companies in Turkey, having produced movie hits such as SINAV, G.O.R.A. and Vizontele all directed by Ömer Faruk Sorak. They needed a clean site design where anyone can easily watch the latest ads, trailers and music videoclips both in archive or recently shot. We tried to provide that simplicity and added their corporate ID elements to the design. We chose flash technology to handle that intense video traffic.

Hi to all, I finally gave my graduation project at school this term with a pleasant B. That is an awesome thing for me, although there are a few unimportant classes left to take to finish the school completely, it doesn’t really matters. I succeeded the hardest part. Unfortunately I had a very small amount of time to spend working on this project, so a B is a very satisfactory grade for me.
The subject was game design, my game was a modernization on the traditional theatrical Turkish shadow-play widely known as Karagöz. I tried to give the characters a new look and make them playable in today’s computer games world. I will convert the project to a web optimized and browser compatible format soon, and then post a detailed explanation using my graduation thesis on the subject.
Btw, “Güldürüklü Temaşa” means “Funny Show” or “a Show with Laughter” in old Turkish spoken during the Ottoman Empire era. The origin of the game comes from the very beginning of the empire, like 1300s. Small 2D puppets, in size of a hand, made of camel leather, reflected to a half transparent paper curtain by shivering brightish candle lights , the play can be stated as an ancestor to today’s multimedia environment.
Here are some screenshots from the gameplay screens for now..

A sequel Turkish movie to the Maskeli Besler Intikam Pesinde last year. It has been a very quick solution for a flash movie site because of the time limitations, we actually designed and applied the site in about one day. Cooperative artwork by Basar, graphic designer of Fida Film.

Finally I could choose a brand new Apple core2duo iMac 20″ for my design and computing needs. Thanks to my colleagues at Networked Concepts, they helped me a lot during the purchase process.
My first impression on this machine is that these machines rock! They are simply the best computers Apple has produced by now. Both in osX and Windows XP (thanks to bootcamp beta) platform; the core2duo processor powered with DDR2 667Mhz rambus make dreams come true. As stated in the user’s manual on migrating to osX from Windows; lose ctrl, gain command! Personally I loved this motto..

Thanks to my colleague Cenk Sari for lead programming this hard project in a couple of months. Website design and genuine icons made by me and some scripting with html/css integration handled by Kagan Cam.
